Thought for Today: How to Be Free from Condemnation – Part 18
There is a way according to the Bible to be FREE
from condemnation! Want to know what it is?
1st - Have to be “IN Christ”
2nd - Have to WALK IN the Spirit versus IN the flesh.
Romans 8:1 NKJV
[There is] therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
How do we get “IN Christ?”
We are justified (made in right-standing with God) by placing our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior – not in our own works.
Galatians 2:16 NKJV
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Therefore, if anyone [is] in Christ, [he is] a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. -
How do we WALK in the SPIRIT?
By yielding to the Holy Spirit and not to the carnal - sinful nature.
Romans 6:13 NKV
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
When we are IN CHRIST – our SPIRIT (the real you) is 100% perfect, righteous and holy – and there is no condemnation in your spirit - because you have a brand new spirit!
But, our SOUL (mind, will and emotions) does not get saved – but rather we are told in the New Testament to RENEW our mind according to the Word of God and present our bodies to God:
Romans 12:1-2 KJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
If we don’t renew our mind and continue to walk in the carnal, fleshly, sinful nature – our heart (subconscious) condemns us, because our spirit knows when we are doing wrong.
1 John 3:21
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, [then] have we
confidence toward God. - 1 John 3:21 KJV
KEY: We must be “CONGRUENT” with our WHOLE being - spirit, soul and body. What does that mean?
Congruent means to be “in agreement or harmony.” If we don't want to be condemned -- our WHOLE BEING – spirit, soul and body needs to be saying, believing and doing the SAME things! We must be in agreement and harmony with our spirit – which is hooked up and dwelling with the Holy Spirit of God.
Thought: Ask the Lord to show you, by His Spirit - what areas of your life that are not in agreement or harmony with the Holy Spirit and your spirit. Ask Him to teach you how to be in harmony and agreement with His Spirit and your spirit.
P.S. NOTE: The Holy Spirit is called the HELPER for a reason. :)
